Gandhi Sagar is a small town in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh situated on the banks of river Chambal. The city is famous for the Gandhi Sagar Dam, one of the largest dams in India. The dam was built on the Chambal River in the year 1960, and is used for irrigation, power generation and flood control. The city is also known for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Madhya Pradesh Tourism has developed a resort of its own at Gandhisagar Dam called Hingloj Resort. Which is the only property on this dam. An event called Gandhisagar Floating Festival was recently organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board to cater to the tourists and a tent city was also constructed there.
